I’m back from the Fun Stampers Journey Convention – wow! What a great time! Not only did I have the chance to make new friends, learn new techniques and be inspired, but, I also got my hands on some new product! Yay!
Our new catalog is fabulous! That’s right, 316 pages of crafting goodness!
This week’s Can You Case It challenge, was watercolors. So, I decided to combine a new technique I learned at convention, watercoloring with color splash, with a brand new stamp set. If you follow Richard Garay, President and Co-Founder of Fun Stampers Journey, you know he has been traveling all over the world introducing RG Retail and Fun Stampers Journey Brands. A pub in England inspired this stamp set design – check out Sophisticated Animals (SS-0300) which will be available July 1st!
To make the background for the gift tag, I used a technique we tried at convention. First I lightly wet a Fun Stampers Journey Color Splash Sheet (JM-0076) with water. Then on a craft mat, I tapped out a little Sweet Berry Color Splash (IP-0086), spritz with a tiny bit of water and then spritzed with Gold Color Splash (IP-0081). Next I took the damp Color Splash Sheet and laid it on top of my colorful puddle. The Color Splash Sheet absorbs the water colors in a fun design. Once dry I used Ornate Label Die and Piercing Set (BD-0077) to cut out the background.
I stamped the Bear head with Hazelnut ink (IP-0012) on oatmeal cookie cardstock (CS-0023)and used black licorice ink (IP-0041), which, in my opinion is the absolute best black ink on the market, to stamp the suit, hat and sentiment. I colored with sweet berry color splash, using it as a watercolor. Then I grabbed my scissors and fussy cut out the pieces. I put it all together on a Romance Treat Bag (ST-0009) and embellished with a splash of Gold Silk (IP-0096) , a jumbo wooden clothespin (AC-0028) and some Journey twine in natural (AC-0005) and black (AC-0004).
