The Zoo Babies stamp set by Stampin’ up! is quickly becoming one of my favorites! It’s perfect for all kinds of cards but really lends itself well to babies! Check out this diaper cake, cased from the one featured in the Stampin’ up! Idea Book and Catalog (page 54). It takes 60-65 diapers to create and I recommend rolling and securing with a rubber band, then securing the entire cake with a large rubber band or string before adding the wrapper. You also want to use something the approximate height of your diaper for the center of the cake to stabilize it. For mine, I used a large baby powder in the bottom layer and a baby bottle for the top layer. The bottom layer is three diapers wide the top is two. Once you have the cake the size you want, measure to create the border that fits your cake and sew the cards together. And to finish it off, I created a flower with white crepe filter paper and the flower framelits dies but you could also top it off with a small baby toy or rattle.

Chalkboard or Blackboard cards are one of the latest trends in handmade cards. The technique is simple and results in a great look. It’s “baby time” at the office so I played around with this technique and here are my results:
To recreate this look, take black card stock, stamp your image using white craft ink, immediately sprinkle with white embossing powder and set with a heat tool. Then, to create the chalkboard smudges, use a white pencil or a piece of chalk and lightly brush over the card stock. On the top card, I used a white pencil and on the bottom one I used chalk. The looks are very similar.
To finish off the card, I created a banner across the top. The “flags” are 1/2″ wide by 1″ long and I snipped the ends with my paper snips. I “case’d” (case= copy and share everything) the idea from a Valentine Card I received in a swap from Lisa Kim.
